Christmas this year was pretty magical. More photos to come eventually.
Bridget turns five tomorrow. I can hardly believe it.
And now –
We had a really nice visit with Brendan’s brother’s family last weekend. There was a winter carnival at the kids’ school, a birthday party, cousins galore…
messes, home-brewed beer, a lesson in chocolate melting…
and brrrr, it was super-cold. Bunches of fun for all of us.
Thanks to Brendan, January and February pictures of the kids are up.
Some of my favorites:
Kids (and adults) had a good Christmas.
Johnny’s favorite present by far was a bag of Animal Crackers in his stocking from Santa. He carried them (and some Hotwheels) around all morning. (He’s got a bit of a cold; sorry about the boogers.)
Bridget’s Snuggie from Santa was a huge hit as well. She’s been wanting one hardcore for a while now.
(Hope we get enough snow tomorrow that it’s fun, but not too much that it’s a headache.)
It’s been fun going through them again. Well, at least it’s been fun for me. Poor Brendan organized all the wedding photos into pre-ceremony, ceremony and reception and reasonable orders for each. And he also took off the timestamps from the honeymoon photos. He’s probably sick to death of them.
What I love is first how damn young we both are. I mean seriously. I was barely 21, and Bren was 22.
There’s a game I like to play with the photos, too. It’s called What are they saying?
Are my cousins discussing the qualities of the white wine?
What is so funny, Dad?
You look so happy to be here, Dan…
Blah, blah, blah.
Now, we have to plan a trip for our tenth anniversary next year. Where to go?
It wasn’t my smartest idea — we had a costume parade earlier in the day and small/no naps — but this afternoon we took the kids to the park to try and get some good shots for possible inclusion in Christmas cards.
There were a lot of them together that didn’t work.
And ones of just one kid that worked pretty well
And one of both of them that I think is as good as we’ll get.
Pulled out the camera the other night to get back in the habit. I’ve been taking too many with just my iPhone camera. And while that is handy and fast and all, it’s just not the same. Plus, at some point in the near future, I’m going to need to get some quality snaps of the kids for Christmas cards. Jeez, I cannot believe that the holidays are really just right around the corner.
It wasn’t really the best time of the day — it was dark, but the SpeedLight helps things. I’m still trying to decide if I even want to attempt taking a photo of both kids at once. It’ll be exponentially easier to do them separately I think.
Happy Anniversary to us!
While we were on vacation at the cottage, we went out to Cleveland to (among other things) tour the Steamship William G. Mather. Now, I like boats, but I didn’t expect to fall in love with all the little details that were on the ship.
A cabinet of keys that made me weirdly giddy!
Fan I wanted to pull down and put in my purse!
Light I also wanted to take home with me!
And last, but not least, a griffin woodcarving!I am pretty sure I’m going to draw and stitch this guy up at some point.
