super
Six just happens to be my favorite number. It is the first perfect number: its factors' (1,2, and 3) sum and product are both six.*
Six is also the number of SuperBowl wins for the Steelers. I'm sure Brendan will write more about the game later (once he gets out of bed).

Happy Anniversary!

Five years ago Brendan was busy trying to shake off a hangover and find our wedding bands, while I was trying not to sweat too much before putting on my gown. Then we were off to Switzerland.
We had planned to go back to Lucerne (pictured above) this year because it was our favorite place, but someone changed those plans.

happy
Brendan has his Ben, and I have mine. My Ben was the theme for my birthday presents this year: a jersey and an offical autographed card. Now we just have to start going to matches again. Although, once Bridget gets older we'll have to move from the "fun side" of the stadium (near the fan clubs) to the family side. If Bridget ever decides that she wants to play soccer, I don't want her chanting "F$%# YOU REF!" When she's upset over a call.

present
Some men buy their wives jewelry after they give birth; it's called a "push present." Instead of a necklace and earrings, Brendan got me this. I like to call it a "I love my wife so I bought her a new refigerator present."

cool kids
Yesterday, we got our copy of Mike Doughty's new album, Haughty Melodic. It didn't come out until today. Wow. Are we cool or what? (It's called pre-order.) It's nothing that I haven't heard before. He's been doing all the songs live for some time now, but it's nice to have them all in one place, without crowd noise behind it. We'll hear them again tomorrow, too. Because that's what we do.

cheese!

Bren tried to surprise me with a new camera, the Nikon D70; my new digital SLR. It's something totally new to me. I've been a point and shoot girl all my life, but I was getting bored/frustrated with that.
Brendan, in case you were wondering, is not very good at surprises. He gets so excited that he just can't keep it in -- especially a good one. The other night we were at the store and he spent a little too much time fawning over the DSLRs. He had me hold them and look at them and what not. Then, a couple days later, told me that there would be something coming for me. Kinda gave that one away. He doesn't like it when I try and surprise him either. I've just about given up trying to get him good birthday/Christmas gifts. He can't stand to wait.

not so cynical
As much as I like to give people a really hard time about getting and giving roses on Valentine's Day, and as much as I say that I don't need them, I still really like the ones that were delivered to me today. They don't quite look like that yet -- the blossoms haven't opened yet. But they are still very nice.
