21st century
Today I say goodbye to my inexpensive, but no-frills, cell phone service and join the ranks of those with smart phones. We decided it was time and this afternoon will be iPhone owners. I'm more excited than I should be. I've been hesitant mainly because of cost because really, what can compete with a $15 a month cell phone bill? You just can't. In fact, it's a pay-as-you-go plan from Verizon that isn't even offered anymore. We're probably their last customers with it! They keep stripping away features. All we could do was call and text. Nothing else. So I'll be going from one extreme to another. I can't wait!

old school
In stark contrast to our new-fangled GPS, we pulled the record player up out of the basement and are now enjoying the musical stylings of the Chipmunks singing the Beatles. We'll move on to more interesting selections later. It took a little work. The poor turntable didn't want to turn, but after a re-threading of the band, it's working just fine. On top of that, we're burning through a lot of wood in the fireplace, so it just feels like an old-fashioned kind of day.

new toy
Brendan spent his Christmas money and got us himself a new toy: a Garmin nüvi 265WT. I have been resistant to the idea for some time, but I must admit, it's pretty damn cool.
