in love

I seriously wish that this shirt came in infant sizes. Bridget adores this floor lamp we have in the living room. She will smile and giggle, flirt and stick her tongue out at this lamp all day long. If it had boobs and could feed her, I think she'd prefer it to me all the time!

back

This week is my first week back at work. Yesterday went pretty well. I'm only here in the office for four hours in the mornings this week (except for Friday, since I now have those off) and Brendan is home with Bridget when I'm here -- both things helped out a whole lot yesterday. I didn't cry until I got home. Today seems to be going just fine, too.

It helps that I get here pretty darn early. I figure that I'm up anyway at 4am, so I might as well just stay up. Right now it seems like my whole life revolves around sleep. Getting Bridget to sleep well at night, getting her to take naps while not being held, thinking about the next time that I'll get to sleep, too. I don't think that's going to change any time soon!

son of a...
So we got a bill from the hospital and the NICU the other day. What a bunch of crap. The hospital one I don't quite understand at this point, but apparently they billed the insurance wrong the first time so we're supposed to ignore it anyway; it's the NICU bill that has me all angry. Evidently they don't participate in our insurance. First of all, what kind of sense does that make? The hospital participates, the neonatal doctors should, too. Second, it's not like we had a choice. We can't refuse their services. Umm, excuse me doctor? Yeah, do me a favor, don't resuscitate my baby. Whatever. And it's not as though we have some weird insurance carrier -- it's Carefirst, Blue Cross Blue Shield. It's only the largest provider in the area, and the hospital is only the flagship hospital in northern Virginia. I just feel like it's a sneaky way to get money. It's not a trivial amount, either. We're talking $1,800, of which our insurance will pay $57 since it was out of network. Total garbage.

phew
I almost had a crisis on my hands this morning. Bridget and I were at Babies R Us this morning picking up some things, and as I went to walk out the store, I realized that I no longer had my car key. Crap. Of course, I had also made the decision to leave the diaper bag with my house keys and my phone inside the car because we were just making a quick stop. Fortunately, someone in the store found the key and turned it in to guest services.

In other news, as you can see, Bridget is growing like a weed and starting to smile.
