back
The hillbillies' house is back on the market. We had thought that maybe they had actually sold it. The other day I noticed a car and a couple of very normal people poking around. Alas, they were Realtors and put the for sale sign back up. What's ever more discouraging is the price that they are now asking. It's so insanely low. I think they are just trying to unload it and so are coming in under every other house that's for sale in the neighborhood.

I'm worried for two reasons:

  1. Obviously it effects us. If we ever wanted to sell in the near future (not that we plan to), then the price that they sell for has a direct bearing on what we can ask and

  2. I don't know if it will work. The price is so low that people might think that there's something wrong with the place. I care about the house selling because it's not good to have so many totally empty houses around us.

Nothing in our immediate neighborhood has really been moving at all. Saw a few people riding around looking this weekend while we were out doing yard work, but it's not looking too good. Our assessment went down this year. Ugh. I don't feel like we overspent per se, it's just not a good trend.

sweet memories

Ran across this article in the Post about Praiano, Italy, the little village we stayed in Italy when we were there for Vince and Kate's wedding in 2003. The article is spot on, and brought back the memories of the entire trip. It mentioned everything: Bar de Sole, the language barrier, the stairs, Padre Pio...

It's funny, I was just thinking about our trip not that long ago.

What's particularly interesting is that the Details article that accompanies the main article mentions the market we frequented. Given what happened to me on our last day, well, you decide if you want to go shopping there. I don't think I will again. The trip as a whole was amazing though and the village was just about perfect.

[Relive our whole trip in the travelblog and the gallery.]

Today is Euler's 300th birthday. Extra points if you know who he is or how to say his name.

Here are a few photos from Easter. Brendan will get them all up in the gallery at some point.

It was not the best day for photos for Bridget. Here she is before church, a little grumpy because she's tired:*

And with the rest of the great-grandchildren and their grandfather (No one is having a good time here, except maybe Sam who slept through the whole thing):

Speaking of which, we did get to meet the newest member of the family, Sammy**. He looks like such a little man:

boo
Since Comcast sucks, we couldn't watch the DC United - Chivas match on television, but Brendan is a wizard and got us a feed from China! It stinks that we couldn't pull it out, but at least we scored and played reasonably well.

I also learned that the Chinese really love whiskey and scotch. So many commercials at half time. Of course the match started at 9:35pm our time which is 9:35am there -- a very weird time for all those liquor commercials. (Here I was thinking it was more like 3am or something. Hm.)

Back to the match....

It wasn't as ugly as I thought it could have been -- especially since we were playing in Mexico.

What I really want to know is what Ben was saying to the player from Chivas he was walking off the field with at the end of the match.

bizarre
Bridget is now sleeping like a champion (at least at night, but naps are getting there). We have our little routine and then she goes in the crib, lays down and cries just a little (but is done before I'm even out of the room). There's no more sitting up and sleeping; it's so regular. I've had a whole week of sleeping for seven hours in a row. In the evenings, I almost don't know what to do with myself. It's so weird. But for ten months I've been tending to a little baby. She's not such a baby anymore and it makes me just a little bit sad. I am glad to be sleeping again (because I love sleep), but it's strange not having her need me.
