you've got to be kidding me
Tell me, how is it that it's 9:30pm and our mailman hasn't come yet?

Sadly, this is not a rare occurrence. And who are we supposed to complain to? Should I march myself down to the post office and wait in line to talk to someone and have them laugh in my face?

Electronics Blowout! Everything Must Go!
I've had my eye on a new scanner for quite some time now, but the finance committee (Jess) has had enough of my buying electronic/computer equipment.

So I've decided to sell some of my extra crap that's just lying around collecting dust. We have:

1 computer - Dell Dimension 4300 with no hard drive. Other than the hard drive, it's pretty good to go. I've even installed some upgrades to it lately. Extra RAM, USB 2.0/Firewire card, and USB wireless adapter. It's a decent machine. Of course it comes with 17" monitor, speakers, keyboard, and laser mouse.

1 scanner/printer - Lexmark x73. It needs cartridges, but other than that, it's good to go.

2 external hard drive cases - One for SATA, one for IDE. I've never really gotten to use either.

1 5.1 stereo receiver - Onkyo 301. It's awesome, I just outgrew it.

1 wireless router - SMC Barricade g. Worked great before we moved and I had to use what Verizon gave us.

1 pretty new, but extremely old photo scanner from Polaroid. Bought it for $17 at Ritz Camera a little while ago, and had a hell of a time finding a driver for Windows XP. I found the driver, but now I can't use it because it's got a parallel connection, and the new iMac definitely doesn't have one of those.

1 DirecTV TiVo receiver. Was awesome, but as is well chronicled here, I can't get DirecTV anymore, so that has to go.

So if you know anyone, send them my way. I'm anxious to get the new scanner. There will also be an eMac available at some point. If you don't see anything on this list, just ask. I probably have two of them. So buy my shit because I always need money to buy something new.

Happy Anniversary!

Five years ago Brendan was busy trying to shake off a hangover and find our wedding bands, while I was trying not to sweat too much before putting on my gown. Then we were off to Switzerland.

We had planned to go back to Lucerne (pictured above) this year because it was our favorite place, but someone changed those plans.

dead
It's a good thing we got a new computer because the Dell died today. It's also a good thing that we've moved just about all the files that we needed because it was the hard drive that went. There might have been a few things that got lost -- but the vast majority of it got saved. The new Mac is pretty awesome by the way. There have been several kinks in the setup, but it's nothing that we can't live with. Now, we really have no choice.

However, in my hurry to get out of work (more on that later), I forgot to bring home some software that I needed that did get lost. It will just have to wait until Monday when I'm back in the office. I think I can hold out until then.

***

I was in a hurry because today was Bridget's first day at daycare. She's going to a nice home daycare just 5 minutes from the house. Today, she had the full attention of Mrs. Marie. It was a little bit nutso trying to get out of the house this morning. Of course I couldn't bring myself to get up at 5:20am, and slept in just a little (5:40. Woo Hoo!). Then the milk for her bottles wasn't totally defrosted and so we were late getting showers. And of course it was pouring down rain and it was the first day of school for all the neighborhood kids. But we made it. If a little late. That meant leaving work a little earlier than normal to make sure that we picked Bridget up at the right time. We ended up being a little bit early, but that's better than being a little bit late.

She did well, it seems, and so did I. I got a little teary as we were pulling away in the morning, but earlier everything had been so rushed that I didn't have too much time to think about it. I ended up feeling a little guilty that I didn't feel terrible and guilty about it. How messed up is that?

Now, we just need her to fall asleep for the night. She's a little overtired and fighting us ever so slightly. It'll be my shift again soon.

traumatic

Calming comfort my ass: Bridget hates her bath. The only time she hasn't screamed her head off was the time photographed, at the cottage. Now, it's like she knows it's coming and she starts to stick out her bottom lip and whimper when we start the water. By the time we're getting her undressed, she's crying. And it's not the I'm kind of upset variety, she's really mad and a little scared. We've become pretty efficient.

The good news is, I'm writing this on our shiny new iMac.
